01

START TOGETHER

Make the idea visible for everyone.

02

ADAPT WITH PURPOSE

Adjust the language, layout, or level of support.

03

KEEP IT FAMILIAR

Use consistent visuals across the learning day.

MORE THAN A SCHEDULE

Visuals belong throughout the learning day.

A visual can make a routine easier to anticipate, a direction easier to revisit, or a new idea easier to understand. Use them proactively with the whole class, then add more individualized support when it is useful.

Try it for assignments, projects, labs, and stations.

Choices & participation

Offer more than one way to understand, respond, make a choice, and take part in the lesson.

Try it for response options, discussion, and reflection.
05 Smarty Symbols character independently washing dishes

Independence

Create references students can return to as they begin, continue, and finish work with less repeated prompting.

Try it for checklists, work systems, and self-monitoring.
06 Smarty Symbols illustration of a student making a positive choice

Classroom community

Build shared language for feelings, expectations, problem-solving, belonging, and asking for help.

Try it for class meetings, regulation, and repair.

Useful across learner profiles. Visual supports can offer another point of access for multilingual learners, early readers, students developing executive-function skills, and learners who use more individualized communication or instructional supports.

ONE GOAL · FLEXIBLE SUPPORT

Start with shared access. Personalize without starting over.

The same visual language can move with a lesson—from a classroom display, to a focused small-group resource, to an individual support. Change the amount of information, the layout, or the words while keeping the visuals familiar.

Different levels do not mean different platforms. Create, duplicate, and adapt inside the same Smarty Symbols Studio workspace.

01 WHOLE CLASS

Make the lesson visible for everyone.

Display the routine, directions, expectations, or key vocabulary where the class can refer back to it.

Visual agenda · lesson anchor · classroom expectations
02 SMALL GROUP

Focus attention on the part being taught.

Simplify the page, highlight selected vocabulary, or break the task into a shorter sequence for guided practice.

Vocabulary board · focused sequence · guided activity
03 INDIVIDUAL

Personalize what a learner can use independently.

Adjust the language, number of choices, visual detail, or response format around a learner’s current needs.

First–then board · personal checklist · communication support

The goal stays connected. The support becomes more specific.

FROM IDEA TO READY-TO-USE

Create something useful in four approachable steps.

Start from a structure that already works, make it specific to your learners, and choose the format that fits the moment.

QUESTIONS EDUCATORS ASK

Everything you need to know before you begin.

Both educator memberships open the same complete Smarty Symbols Studio. The answers below explain the role selection, creation tools, billing, and group-access options.

Is Smarty Symbols Studio only for special education?

No. Visual supports can make routines, directions, vocabulary, expectations, choices, and learning clearer across a whole classroom. General education teachers can build proactive class-wide supports, while special education teachers can also create more individualized materials around specific learner needs.

Do both educator memberships include the same tools?

Yes. General education and special education memberships include the same complete Smarty Symbols Studio experience: the inclusive symbol library, editable templates, Printing Center, Game Center, Community Activity Library, personal image uploads, and saved editable projects.

Why do I need to choose a teacher type?

Your selection connects you to the correct membership record and helps Smarty Symbols understand who is using the platform. It does not change the tools, features, or price you receive.

Can I create both whole-class and individualized materials?

Yes. You can begin with a whole-class schedule, lesson support, or vocabulary resource and then duplicate or adapt it for a small group or an individual learner—without rebuilding everything from the beginning.

Can I upload my own classroom images?

Yes. Upload photos or other images when a familiar classroom space, staff member, object, student work example, or routine step would make the resource more meaningful. Follow your school’s privacy and media policies whenever an image identifies a student.

Can I edit, print, download, and reuse my work?

Yes. Saved projects remain editable, and finished resources can be printed, downloaded, shared according to the applicable terms, or used on screen. You can update the wording, symbols, steps, and layout as your classroom needs change.

Do I need graphic-design experience?

No. Start with a template, choose symbols or upload an image, adapt the words and layout, and then use the finished resource. The workflow is designed for educators creating practical materials—not professional designers.

Can a school or district purchase access for multiple teachers?

Yes. Schools and districts can plan seat quantities, request a quote, and use purchase-order purchasing through the organization-access process. Educators should not buy separate individual memberships when their school intends to provide group access.

Can I cancel future renewal?

Yes. Monthly and yearly memberships renew automatically until canceled. You can manage future renewal through your account; canceling prevents the next scheduled charge while your current paid access continues through its existing term.
