We have prepared a pdf. file that you can download and print for yourself to use as a companion to the app and also to use and find symbols on our website.

HOW TO USE IT:

Make sure you download the file at the end of this page. Once you open the file, you will notice three screen pages on the document. The first page is an exact representation of the app with the target words on the app.

The third screen ( 5th page) shows you the key of original text for each symbol as you should search on our website. At times those words match, and at time they don’t.

WHY ARE THE WORDS DIFFERENT FROM THE APP?

Smarty Symbols is licensed to various companies and app developers. We do not place any restrictions on how the symbols are used. The developers of speak for yourself have opted to change the target word associated with some symbols. Some of the symbols match our library, some do not. Please use the key page to find the equivalent word on our website. Furthermore, Speak for Yourself licensed our images in 2011, and Smarty Symbols has gone through updates to improve the quality of our symbols in order to make them clearer and have a very homogeneous feel to our library. The developers of Speak for Yourself, have chosen to not update the symbols within the app for reasons that you should check with them.

WHY CAN’T I FIND SOME SYMBOLS?

If you have looked on the app for the original name ( edit button) and also looked at the key you will notice that a few symbols have been updated, some have been retired ( in 2013) and some have a fresh new look to it for clarity.If you still can’t find the symbol, you will need to select from one of our many other options available.
