Special Education Inservice Program

Smarty Symbols is now offering a series of inservice training that can be arranged. These training are 60 to 90 minutes in duration. All our trainings are offered by a speech-language pathologist. See below the list of training we are currently offering. Our 60 minutes training are offered at $200, while our 90 minutes training are $300.

A member of our team will work with you and your team to meet the needs of your schedule.

Current inservice available:

  • Preschool/Early childhood: Using visuals with children to support language through sensory and movement activities
    • This session shows staff members how to use visuals to engage children’s understanding and expression of language. Research shows that visuals help children to understand and act as springboards for self-expression. Join me in this presentation to walk away with 3 practical activities to use with your students.
  • Upper Elementary age students: Using visuals to help create descriptive language and narratives
    • This session shows staff members how to use visuals to scaffold language to create thought webs, storyboards, and comics to address narrative goals. Join me in this presentation to learn more about how to go from idea to final product.
  • Elementary age students: Using visuals to creatively address articulation goals
    • This session shows staff members how to use electronic/visuals to address articulation skills. Research shows that when children are aware of their goals, actively engaged in the process, and having fun, it leads to progress. Join me in this presentation to walk away with practical activities to use with your students.
  • Elementary age students: Using visuals to creatively address receptive and expressive language goals
    • This session shows staff members how to use visuals to engage children’s understanding and expression of language. Research shows that visuals help children to understand and develop further expression. Join me in this presentation to walk away with practical activities to use with your students.
  • Elementary/Middle school age students: Using visuals and technology tools to support AAC users
    • Using technology and visuals for your students is a fun and functional way to address language goals and social skills. Join me to learn about different tips and tricks to transform google slides, gifs, roleplay, and visuals to create conversation and excitement for your AAC users.
  • Elementary age students: Using visuals to address fluency goals
    • Fluency shaping and modification activities don’t need to be intimidating! Join me to walk through different fluency activities/visuals to address a variety of strategies. Attendees will get a takeaway product from the session.
  • Preschool-Elementary age students: Using templates to create game companions and homework activities
    • Using templates can be a great way to frontload your time and energy and organize the rest of the school year. Join me to see how easy it is to create templates for your favorite speech/language activities. You can use templates to seamlessly provide carryover activities in the classroom or at home and even increase family communication. This session includes a takeaway product for all attendees.
  • Elementary Age: Schedules, social scripts, and classroom visual creation made easy!
    • Do you spend a lot of time creating your own visuals or writing out stories on pieces of paper to share with your students? Do you wish there was an easier way to create and share visual schedules, classroom expectations, and reminders for upcoming activities? This training session shows some quick and easy ways to create cohesive visuals. Attendees will take away a visual made during the training.
